Eyebrows are one of the most important features on your face. They can either make or break your look. They are an essential part of how you look, yet most guys completely ignore them! In this guide, we'll walk you through all the steps necessary to trim your eyebrows and take your grooming game up a notch!

Should Guys Trim Their Eyebrows?

Yes, men of all ages can benefit from trimming their eyebrows. Regularly trimming your eyebrows can make you look well groomed and even completely change your appearance by creating nice defined lines on the face. As you age, hair tends to grow in new areas, like between the eyebrows, so at some point, it becomes necessary to trim your eyebrows to look your best.

How long Should men's Eyebrows Be?

Men's eyebrows should not grow thicker than your brow, and the perfect length for most people is about 10mm to 11mm.

Where Should Your Eyebrows End?

You should follow the middle of the nostrils to get the best length between your nose. Most people will tell you to follow the outside of your nostrils, but this tends to add to much space between your eyes. Everyone is different, so you should also consider the natural length of your eyebrows and only take away hair that is thinner and doesn't make up the body of your eyebrow.

To get the proper length on the outside of your eyebrows, draw a straight line from the tip of your nose to the outside of your eyelid; that is where your eyebrow should end.

How To Trim Eyebrows For Beginners

Ok! Now it's time to get rid of those bushy eyebrows! We are going to show you step by step how to trim your eyebrows and make them look nice and neat.

What You Will Need

Before we get started, you will need a few tools. Here's what you will need.

  • Grooming scissors
  • Precision Tweezers
  • Small Comb

Make sure that the comb you use is small enough to comb through your eyebrow hair. You can usually find small combs in grooming kits. You also want to use grooming scissors with a rounded tip, so you don't accidentally poke yourself or your eye.

Step 1. Brush Your Eyebrows

Before you start trimming, make sure to take your small comb and brush upwards, which will give your eyebrows a fuller and more natural appearance. This will also make the longer hairs that need to be clipped easier to see.

Step 2. Trim Your Eyebrows

This step is easy to overdo, so we don't recommend using a big electric trimmer. We recommend grooming scissors instead. You want to identify the long hairs protruding out and cut them along the upper outline of your eyebrows. We are only going to focus on the upper part of the eyebrow; you don't want to use scissors for the lower part or middle. That's what we are going to do in the next step.

Step 3. Tweeze The Bottom

Ok, now it's time to take care of the bottom and sides of your eyebrows. This is where tweezers come in. They give you great control and ensure you don't cut too much off by accident. Again we want to follow the natural shape and outline of our eyebrows and emphasize that to make them look cleaner.

You will see on the lower part of your eyebrow little individual hairs that don't make up the main part of the eyebrow. With a good quality tweezer, like the vector tweezer, begin plucking those hairs away. Go slowly and evaluate as you go.

Step 4. Tweeze The Sides

Once you are happy with the bottom of your eyebrows, you can do the same thing with the hair at the ends of your eyebrows. Make sure to slowly remove the hairs that don't make up the body of your eyebrow and evaluate each time to ensure you aren't plucking too many.

When you get to the area between your eyes, there might be extra hairs directly in the middle. Make sure not to forget that area, and you want to have the appearance of separation, so pluck this area as clean as possible.

Step 5. Thin Out Your Eyebrows (Optional)

This step is optional; if you have thin eyebrow hair, then you can skip this. If you have thick bushy eyebrows or uneven hair that grows long, then you can continue with this step.

We want to make our eyebrow hair look more even, so what we will do is take a small comb and begin to brush up. Once you reach the middle of your eyebrow, you can lift the comb away from the face slightly. There should be a couple of millimeters of hair; you will want to clip that and move left to right on your eyebrows, clipping a small amount of hair until you have an even appearance. Once you are happy, you can move on to the other eyebrow.

The goal isn't to cut off a lot of hair; it's just to trim the top, so it is more uniform and even.

How To Shape Eyebrows For Men

Most men do not need to shape their eyebrows, it's better to go for a more natural appearance, but if you have exceptionally long or undefined eyebrow hair, then you might benefit from some slight shaping. So in this section of the guide, we will show you exactly how to do that.

Tweezers

For light shaping, tweezers are the best option. People typically want to emphasize arch appearance when they want to shape their eyebrows. Using tweezers and defining the lower part of the eyebrow will help you get that clean arch appearance.

Waxing

If the hair on your eyebrows grows a lot longer vertically than your brow, that's when we recommend waxing. You can take a makeup pen and draw horizontal lines at the defined thickness you want. Even though you are drawing a little into the eyebrow, try to follow the natural curvature.

Next, apply the wax using a small applicator right on the edge of the line you defined. While it's still wet, apply the wax paper on top. After about a minute, when the wax cools, you can quickly remove the paper, and you should have a nice clean outline.

We recommend starting with the bottom of the eyebrow and then proceeding to the top.

How To Maintain Your Eyebrows

Now that your eyebrows are looking nice and sharp, let's talk about some tips when it comes to maintenance.

It's good to give your eyebrows a quick brush each morning, so they look nice and uniform. You can give them a quick clip if you notice any hairs growing past the edge.

While you're up there, pluck away any tiny hairs that might have grown out overnight at the bottom or the sides. You won't have to do this every day, but it's good to check each morning and stay on top of it.

How Often Should You Trim Your Eyebrows?

If your eyebrows are maintained well, you won't have to do a full trim for about three to four weeks. However, if you let them grow out and don't perform any maintenance, you might have to give them a complete trim within about one to two weeks.

Conclusion

Well, that's it! If you follow these simple tips, you should be able to achieve the perfect eyebrows. Remember to follow the natural curvature and shape of the eyebrows, and for men, it's more about cleaning up the areas around the eyebrows to make them more defined and neat. We hope this helped, and we look forward to hearing about your results in the comments below!
