Being bald is one of the best looks for men, but it sure is a pain to get it maintained. That's why a new type of shaver specifically for your head is taking off. You can have a perfectly smooth head in minutes, not hours. But with that being said, which head shaver is best? We tested all the top trimmers on the market to find out.

Electric head shavers vs razor blades

Electric head shavers and razor blades both have their place when it comes to head grooming. The ease of use and ability to save tons of time  is a clear advantage electric shavers hold over traditional blades. These devices can look like something right out of a sci fi film, but they actually do work.

Another reason we recommend electric head shavers is the cost. These are very affordable devices, and you’ll end up actually saving money in the long run when you consider the cost of constantly replacing razor blades.

There are some downsides to head shavers, so don't completely throw away your razor blades. These head shavers can have a hard time getting into small areas around the ears, so you might still need to do some minor shaving in that area, but overall, these devices save tons of time, are easy to use, and save you money.

How to Choose the Right Head Shaver

When choosing the right head shaver, you want to consider things like the price, blade type, battery life, ease of use, and versatility. Let's talk about what to look for.

number of shaving heads

From my experience, more shaving heads doesn't always mean a better shaving experience, I like shavers with 5 heads, that seems to be the sweet spot for head shavers. However If you have a very large head, or an awkwardly shaped head, then you might want to go for a shaver with more heads.

If the shaver has more heads, it usually contours better to your head. However, more doesn't always mean better quality or performance, factors such as blade sharpness and rotation speed also play significant roles in determining how good a trimmer is.

Price

Shavers come in a wide range of costs, with some being more affordable than others.

The thing is you don't have to spend a fortune to find a good quality head shaver. You will see my top pics are not the cheapest, but are far from the most expensive. I find the head shavers priced in the middle of the pack offer the best overall value.

When creating this list, I really compared overall quality with my experience using the products, and surprisingly, the most expensive options didn't even make it on this list.

Battery Life

The best head shavers often have a battery life of around 90 minutes, allowing for multiple shaves before needing to be plugged in again. Some electric razors can even run for up to five hours on a single charge, providing even more shaving time.

So while all of the shavers on this list have a good battery life, if you don't like recharging them frequently then you might want to consider one with an extended battery.

Ease of Use

All head shavers are easy to use, but they do vary quite a bit when it comes to the handle or grip. For example the Pitbull is a great trimmer that made it on this list, but the grip could take time to get used to. If you like a more traditional grip, then something like the Brio Raze could be a better option.

Quick Recommendations

Here are our quick recommendations, if you want to see the full review then be sure to scroll down.

Best Overall: Brio Raze Head Shaver

The Brio Raze Head Shaver is my top choice. It offers a hassle-free experience with an innovative design, and the shaving heads are the best out there when it comes to getting you a close shave. With 20 shaves per charge and a battery life display, it won't leave you hanging mid-shave.

What sets it’s flexibility for easy maneuvering on your head's contours, even in hidden areas. It’s also not too big like other shavers, which makes them difficult for grooming areas like between your ears.  It’s also waterproof, making it perfect for dry shaving, or wet shaving in the shower, and gel won't stop this thing either.

Its design is simple, but it feels sturdy and quality in the hands, and I can tell it was designed for easy maintenance in mind. Overall, this is a no brainer pick.

Pros

Cons

Easy to maneuver around the head

Limited control compared to traditional razors

Very good battery life with 20 shaves per charge and 100 minutes of runtime

May not provide as close of a shave as manual razors, but still very close

It has a nice digital display

Wet or dry shaving options

Runner Up: Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO Head Shaver

The Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO Head Shaver is my second choice, coming close but not quite up to the Brio Raze. It's a versatile shaver designed for both wet and dry use, with a cordless USB quick-charging feature perfect for travel. The lithium-ion battery lasts up to 90 minutes on a single charge, which is handy.

The shaver's design is impressive, featuring water resistance for safe use under running water or with shaving cream. The ergonomic handle adds to its user-friendliness, and the ultra-flexible pivoting blades adapt to head contours for a smooth shave without nicks or cuts.

What makes it stand out is its compact design, perfect for on-the-go use. However, it does mean I'll have to go over areas multiple times due to the lower surface area. If you want a reliable electric rotary shaver with good performance and user-friendly features, the Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO Head Shaver is worth considering.

Pros

Cons

Quick charging option for quick use

Not suitable for those with very thick or coarse hair

water resistance allows for wet or dry shaving in the shower

Battery life may not be long enough for extended use without recharging

flexible pivoting blades allow for safe shaving in any direction

May require multiple passes to achieve a close shave on certain areas of the head or face

Best Grip: The FlexSeries Electric Head Hair Shaver - Freebird

After using the FlexSeries Electric Head Hair Shaver from Freebird for a while, I can say it's a top choice for head shaving. Its five-blade rotary razor design offers a smooth shave, though the motor is a bit weaker than some competitors. The grip is excellent, and it's comfortable to use. In fact, that's my favorite feature about this trimmer, the grip was excellent, even when wet.

It's very versatile, with a good amount of shaving surface area. It comes with five grooming attachments, including precision clippers and a nose & ear hair trimmer. Plus, it's waterproof, so you can use it in the shower. With rapid USB charging, it means you won't have to worry about recharging it all the time.

We rated the FlexSeries third on our list because of its impressive blend of technology and grip. While it's not the quietest and could use better vibration control, it's still a solid choice with excellent performance and ease of use for everyday grooming.

Pros

Cons

Smooth feeling shave

May require regular replacement of blades

Comes with multiple different grooming attachments

Charging time of 90 minutes may be considered lengthy by some

Ergonomic design for easy use on head, beard, or other areas

The price of the product is a bit high

Very durable which is a plus if you are clumsy

Best Blades: MicroTouch Titanium Head Shaver

I tried the MicroTouch Titanium Head Shaver, and it has some great blades. It shaves efficiently with German stainless-steel blades and a titanium-plated head, providing a smooth shave. It works well in both wet and dry conditions, as it's water-resistant for shower use.

One thing I wish this trimmer had was a longer battery life. Also, its circular design can be a bit awkward to handle at times. Despite these minor drawbacks, the cordless design makes it easy to use, and it delivers a clean, painless shave without nicks or cuts. The floating heads cover a wide area and follow the contours of your head effectively. Overall, it's a practical option for those who prioritize ease of use and reliable results in a head shaver.

Pros

Cons

The AW 6D Head Shaver has overall really good performance. This kit comes with many high-quality accessories, making it a great choice if you are looking for an all in one kit. It's cordless and rechargeable, providing 90 minutes of use after just a 90-minute charge. Plus, it's waterproof for easy cleaning without compromising its durability. The only thing I don't like was that it didn't get as close of a shave as I would have liked.

Pros

Cons

May not provide as close of a shave as other head shavers

Anti pinch system prevents hair from getting caught in the razor

Best Screen: Wyklaus 7D Head Shaver

The Head Shaver 7D is a really good head shaver. Its large, easy-to-read screen is a standout feature, especially if you have bad eyesight. It includes a sensor system that is supposed to reduce irritation, although I would say it can pull a few hairs every now and then. I liked the full waterproof feature, so you don't have to worry about using it in the shower or washing it, and the grip works well even when wet. Cleaning up is a breeze with the provided brush and smooth design. A good pick especially if you need a larger screen.

Best Materials: Skull Shaver Pitbull Silver PRO

The Skull Shaver Pitbull Silver PRO, is one of the most popular head shavers.. The design and features are quite innovative and it was one of the first options in the market. It has a flexible pivoting blade system that adapts to the contours of your face, neck, and jawline, which results in a comfortable shave.

This razor is well-crafted with premium materials, although it is a bit heavy. It's versatile for wet or dry shaving, and its ergonomic, cordless design allows for a good shaving experience. The lithium-ion battery is good but could be better, only offering up to 30 minutes of cordless use on a full charge.

The LED light indicator is a helpful feature for keeping track of the battery status. Overall, the Skull Shaver Pitbull Silver Pro is a solid choice.

Pros

Cons

Quick charging feature comes in handy in a pinche

Short battery life (only 30 minutes of cordless use)

Water resistant  but not water proof

Most Shaver Heads: SHPAVVER 7D Head Shaver

The SHPAVVER 7D Head Shaver stands out with its innovative 7D Floating Head Razor, design which adapts to the contours of my head, and features 7 shave heads! Yea, that's a lot. In fact, this shaver has the most out of any other shaver on this list. While it performed well overall, I don’t think you need 7 shaving heads.

The magnetic shaving heads are easy to clean, and the ergonomic handle is comfortable for extended use. Plus, it's waterproof, allowing for both wet and dry shaving. The added LED display and Type-C charging make it practical. Overall, this one is a solid choice.

Pros

Cons

Best For Travel: Remington RX7 Ultimate Series Head Shaver

The Remington RX7 Ultimate Series is my option of choice if I'm on the go. Its lightweight and compact design make it a great option for travelers. Plus, it's 100 percent waterproof, making cleaning a breeze. No need to disassemble anything – simply rinse it under the tap, and it's ready for the next use.

The 5 Cutting Heads hit the sweet spot and make maximum skin contact and a smooth shave as close as 0.2mm. It also features a less-mess hair pocket to collect hair clippings. That's another reason I recommend this open for traveling, you don’t have to worry about cleanup.

Now the price is a bit high, and the light weight comes at the price of it feeling a bit cheap, but this is still one of the best options out there.

Pros

Cons

Has a 2 year warranty

The price is on the high side

Easy to clean and simple design

Does not have a quick charging feature

Cordless with USB charging and up to 60 minutes of runtime

Best For Small Heads: Skull Shaver Palm 3

The Skull Shaver Palm 3 Head Electric Razor made it on the list because it's a great option for those with small heads. The razor is designed for a close, hassle-free shave and is easy to clean. It's cordless and USB rechargeable for everyday use, working in wet or dry conditions.

Its standout feature are the small shaving heads. Now if you don't have a small head, then I would recommend other trimmers on this list, but if your head is on the smaller side, this is a great option.

The hypo-allergenic materials ensure a safe shaving experience. Water resistance technology adds to the convenience. Plus, it comes with a nose hair trimmer, making it a good value for money purchase, although I wish the nose trimmer worked a bit better.

Pros

Cons

Is water resistant and can be used in the shower

Not compatible with a USB wall adapter, so you may need to purchase one separately.

Made with hypoallergenic materials for those with sensitive skin

It only has 3 heads and a small surface area

The included nose trimmer isn't very good

Best For Detailed Trimming: Remington Shortcut Pro

The Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit is a solid choice offering easy and precise cutting. Its standout feature is the wide curved blade that contours to your head, ensuring an even cut. However, it may not be the best option for complete head shaving. I found this was better as an add-on trimmer to get those little details around my ears.

The 5-minute quick charge is nice to have and it has a40-minute cordless runtime, Which is not the longest, but was good for me since I didn't use it for prolonged periods of time.  It's also waterproof for easy cleaning. With nine length-adjusting combs and the option to use it corded or cordless, it offers versatility and convenience. While it excels in many aspects, it may not be the top choice for those looking to shave their entire head or looking for an all in one shaver.

Pros

Cons

5 - minute quick charge for finishing your haircut

Limited battery life (only 40 minutes of cordless runtime)

Extra wide curved blade for maximum coverage and a close, even cut

The 5 - minute quick charge only last for a few minutes

Most Versatile: Kiby 5 -1

The Kiby Head Shaver is one of the most versatile head shavers I've found. It comes with a range of shaving accessories, including a regular shaving head. The rotating electric design is perfect for both wet and dry shaving, and it's USB rechargeable, making it ideal for home and travel. The LED display is nice but was hard to read at times. It shows the battery percentage and charging reminders. With just 1.5 hours of USB charging, I get up to 90 minutes of use, even from a phone charger. Plus, it's IPX7 waterproof, making it suitable for both dry and wet shaves. The ergonomic design and low noise level make it great for head shaving, and it includes various functional heads for all grooming needs. Overall not a bad option, but I did experience some after shave irritation with this shaver.

Best For Power: Remington RX5 Ultimate Head Shaver

The Remington RX5 Ultimate Head Shaver for Bald Men is my top pick for a powerful shaver, though it's notably noisy during operation. It offers simple operation with a built-in hair pocket for easy cleanup. It’s powerful blades over a close shave and it has a 50-minute runtime.

LED battery indicators are basic, but work, ensuring I won't run out of power mid-shave. It's also waterproof for easy rinsing. The five cutting heads make it super convenient, covering all angles efficiently. Overall if you are looking for a powerful head shaver, then this is a great option.

Pros

Cons

Comes with a hair catcher built in

the shaver was very loud and noisy during operation

Provides close shave results

A good  50 minute runtime without needing to recharge

Best Budget Option: Qhot Head Shavers (R5)

The Qhot Head Shaver is a budget-friendly choice among head shavers, although it's not the best on our list.

This shaver offers a comfortable grip and a smooth shave for both your head and face, although I do wish I got a bit closer to the skin. While it's not the top pick, it still competes with other models. Its modern blade design and five flexible heads were able to conform to my head well. It's waterproof which is nice for the price and can be used for wet or dry shaving, and even in the shower. The integrated lithium-ion battery provides fast charging and up to sixty minutes of use, with a handy LED display to check the battery level. Overall, this shaver aims to make your shaving routine more convenient.

Pros

Cons

Lifetime warranty and responsive customer service

Limited accessories included in the package

It's a bit difficult to clean

Waterproof design for shower usage

Not as close of a shave as others

Best Foil Shaver: Braun Series 5 Electric Shaver

The Braun Series 5 Electric Shavers is the best option if you are looking for a foil head shaver. It's my top choice for those who prefer foil shavers over rotary ones, especially for bald heads. The two foil blades adapt nicely to your head, and that's why I prefer this over other shavers.

It's also 100% waterproof, allowing for wet or dry shaving. The EasyClean system simplifies maintenance without removing the shaver head, saving time. Plus, it includes a beard trimmer attachment for facial grooming. So if you are looking for a shaver that can be used for more than just your bald head, this could be a good option.

With a powerful Li-Ion battery offering up to three weeks of shaving from one charge and a 5-minute quick charge option, it's highly efficient. I really like this trimmer alot, but its one of the more expensive options, and I would say rotary shavers that conform to your head are better if you are looking to just shave a bald head.

Pros

Cons

Autosense technology adapts power to stubble and beard density

One of the more expensive options

100% waterproof design allows for use in the shower

The attachments aren't that great.

Frequently asked questions

A Lot of questions come up when it comes to electric head shavers, so in this section we answer the most common questions that keep coming up.

Is it better to shave your head with an electric or manual razor?

When it comes to shaving your head, electric shavers are often the better option. They offer versatility and can be used for both shaving and trimming hair at different lengths. Electric shavers also save time, especially when dealing with a lot of hair or simply maintaining a short trim.

The only real downside to electric headshavers is you might have a hard time reaching some areas around your ears.

Is foil or rotary shaver better for a bald head?

Both are really good options but the majority of electric head shavers use the rotary blade, and that is the blade style that has become more popular recently. Foil shavers still have their place but I would say rotary shavers are going to be the best option for shaving a bald head.

Do head shavers leave stubble?

This is probably one of the most common worries we see. But electric head shavers do not leave any stubble and get a very close shave. So if you really do like that smooth look then you won't have to worry about any stubble.

Do foil shavers cause ingrown hairs?

Foil shavers are a popular choice for individuals who want to avoid ingrown hairs. Unlike other types of shavers, foil shavers are designed to minimize skin contact during the shaving process.

This reduces the chances of hair getting trapped beneath the skin and causing ingrown hairs. With a foil shaver, you can achieve a close and smooth shave without worrying about irritation or razor burn.

So if you're prone to ingrown hairs, using a foil shaver may be the best option for you.

How often should you shave your head?

I shave my head every two to three days to maintain a smooth and clean look. However, the frequency of shaving your head may vary depending on your own hair growth rate.

It's important to find a shaving schedule that works best for you to keep your bald head looking its best. That's why I like electric head shavers, they are so easy to use, so maintenance only takes a few minutes.

Conclusion

That's it! We hope you enjoyed this guide and found a good electric head shaver that works for you. After reviewing the top 15 options on the market, two standout products are highly recommended.

The Brio Raze Head Shaver offers long-lasting battery life and a compact design for easy handling, while the Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO provides a close and comfortable shave with its 4D Rechargeable Rotary technology.

Both of these head shavers offer exceptional performance and quality, making them great choices for anyone in need of a reliable grooming tool. Happy shaving!
